The memoires of water
The Melampo Mill, named after its owner, rises on the town’s eastern side along the stream called “del Carro”. The mill was renovated and transformed into a hostel. New wooden roofs were added, a food vending area and visitor’s center built on the ground floor. The original separation between the working mill on the ground floor (with its vaulted ceilings and the entry points for the water canals) and the upper floors where the living-quarters were located was maintained. To connect the floors, stairs and ramps were built on the outside of the building. This structure was supported by a “forest” of steel posts, the top of which house the stairs’ lighting.
